Seasoned coaches Paulo Bento and Fernando Santos rejects Al Ahly coaching job
Portuguese duo of Paulo Bento and Fernando Santos have turned down the opportunity to lead Egyptian powerhouse, Al Ahly.
The Egyptian giants are without a substantive coach following the sacking of Spanish trainer Jose Riveiro weeks ago after a string of unimpressive results in the current campaign.
Riveiro left Al Ahly after just four month spell at the club. His sacking stem from the club’s 2-0 home defeat to reigning CAF Champions League holders, Pyramids FC at Cairo International Stadium.
Since the dismissal of Riveiro, Emad El Nahhas has been serving as the interim coach of the African giants as the search for a new tactician continues.
In his first match in charge, Al Ahly settled for a draw against Enppi SC, leaving them on the 15th position after six matches into the campaign.
However, the Egyptian powerhouse has intensify their pursuit of a new tactician in an attempt to turn things around in the current campaign.
Meanwhile, experienced Portuguese pair of Paulo bento and Fernando Santos have declined Al Ahly coaching job.
Currently, negotiations are underway with other coaches, including Swiss gaffer Urs Fischer as the club aim to resolve coaching issues in the coming days.
