SCR Altach sign Germany and DR Congo winger Rodney Elongo-Yombo

Germany and DR Congo winger Rodney Elongo-Yombo has joined Austrian Bundesliga club SCR Altach from Saarbrucken on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old has signed a contract running until 30 June 2028 after completing his move on 26 August 2026. Elongo-Yombo, who plays primarily on the left wing, leaves Saarbrucken after one season with the German club.

He helped Saarbrucken win the Saarland Cup during the 2025-26 campaign, his only season with the side. The move to Altach takes him from Germany’s third tier to Austria’s top flight.

Elongo-Yombo has made 129 appearances in the 3. Liga, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists. He played in the competition during spells with Saarbrucken and Borussia Dortmund II, having joined Dortmund’s reserve side from Greuther Furth II in July 2022.

The Augsburg-born player began his youth career with Ingolstadt before moving to SSV Ulm, where he progressed through the under-17 and under-19 teams. He later spent time in Greuther Furth’s academy before making the step into senior football.

Elongo-Yombo is listed at 1.84m and is comfortable using either foot. His arrival gives Altach an attacking player capable of operating on the left side, with the club securing his services without a transfer fee.

His market value is listed at €350,000, while his highest recorded value has been €500,000. He now begins his first spell outside Germany after moving into Austrian football with a contract that keeps him at Altach until 2028.

Elongo-Yombo’s free transfer from Saarbrucken to SCR Altach was completed on 26 August 2026.
