Schalke 04 near deal for Cameroon midfielder Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe

Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe is close to leaving Eintracht Frankfurt for newly promoted Bundesliga club Schalke 04, with the transfer expected to be completed after the final stage of his medical.

The two clubs have reached a full agreement over the move, according to Florian Plettenberg. Schalke will pay €1m for the 25-year-old midfielder, while Eintracht Frankfurt have negotiated a 25% sell-on clause as part of the deal.

Dina Ebimbe is set to sign a two-year contract with Schalke 04. The agreement is expected to include an option for an additional season, meaning he could remain under contract with the club until 2028.

The first part of his medical examination has been completed successfully. The second stage is scheduled to take place today, with the move still awaiting its final formalities.

The transfer will bring an end to Dina Ebimbe’s three-season spell at Eintracht Frankfurt. Although his existing contract was originally due to run until June 2027, he is now poised to continue his career elsewhere in the Bundesliga.

The Cameroon international spent last season on loan at Stade Brestois in Ligue 1 after being developed at PSG. His campaign in France helped him regain momentum and establish himself as an important member of the Brest team.

Dina Ebimbe made 27 league appearances for Stade Brestois last season and scored five goals. That return represented a positive period for the midfielder, who used his time in Ligue 1 to revive his career and play a prominent role for the club.

He is currently valued at €6m, although Schalke’s agreed initial payment is €1m, with Eintracht Frankfurt retaining the right to receive 25% of any future transfer fee through the sell-on provision.

For Schalke 04, the move would add an experienced midfielder to their squad as they prepare for a return to the Bundesliga. The club’s promotion has opened the way for Dina Ebimbe to remain in Germany, while offering him the prospect of a fresh start after his loan spell in France.

The deal is therefore close, but the second part of the medical and the completion of the contractual process must still take place before the transfer can be formally confirmed.
