SC Paderborn complete deal to sign Nigerian youngster Kennedy Okpala
SC Paderborn have moved early to strengthen their attack, completing the signing of promising Nigerian forward Kennedy Okpala.
According to Sky reporter Ben Heckner, the 20-year-old joins from third-division side Waldhof Mannheim after putting pen to paper on Tuesday. The transfer will officially take effect on January 1, 2026, with Paderborn activating his €550,000 release clause.
Okpala has rapidly built a reputation in the 3. Liga, where he delivered seven goals and two assists in 17 competitive appearances. His rise has caught the attention of several clubs, but Paderborn stepped ahead of the competition to secure his signature.
The club, currently fourth in the 2nd Bundesliga and with 22 goals scored this season, will hope Okpala’s arrival adds further firepower to their push for promotion.
Although the Nigerian comes in with a lot of talent, he will need to work hard in training to break into the SC Paderborn starting eleven.
