Djibril Cissé Nearing Ligue 1 Comeback, Says Claude Makelele
SC Bastia could soon count on the return of veteran striker Djibril Cissé, who recently featured and scored in a friendly against Ligue 2 side Gazélec FC Ajaccio. Sidelined for several months with injury, Cissé’s long-awaited comeback appears to be drawing closer.
Coach Claude Makelele, hopeful for a turnaround in Bastia’s poor form, emphasized the striker’s potential impact.
“The most important thing is that he feels good physically. When he’s in good shape, he’ll be a plus for us,” Makelele told L’Équipe. “It’s still too early to set a date, but if he’s very well physically and doesn’t feel any pain, why not bring him into the squad?”
With Bastia languishing in the relegation zone, Cissé’s return could offer the offensive spark the Corsican club so desperately needs.
