Sayed Abdel Hafeez, the former director of football at Al Ahly, has hinted at a possible return to the club through the upcoming elections, set for October 30 and 31.

Speaking in a televised interview, Abdel Hafeez shared that he recently met with Al Ahly president Mahmoud El Khatib to discuss how he could contribute again to the club’s work. While keeping the details private, he made clear that it was a collective matter, not just his own decision.

Abdel Hafeez admitted he still feels deeply connected to Al Ahly, stressing that his bond with El Khatib remains strong. He credited the president with guiding him into his first leadership role at the club, describing their meeting as warm and respectful.

Turning to recent media controversy, Abdel Hafeez rejected Medhat Shalaby’s claim about El Khatib’s absence from the Club World Cup. “It’s a shame to delve into illness, and my remaining life doesn’t allow for all these conflicts,” he said. He also welcomed Shalaby’s suspension, calling it a deserved recognition of El Khatib’s dignity.
