Savinho set for Tottenham move as £60m deal edges closer

Tottenham are advancing talks with Manchester City over a £60m deal for Brazil winger Savinho, with the transfer expected to be completed before the summer window closes.

The proposed move would be a major addition to manager Roberto De Zerbi’s squad and would take Tottenham’s spending during the current window to almost £300m a historic club record.

Sources told Football Insider that negotiations between Tottenham and Manchester City are progressing, while the 22-year-old has reportedly agreed personal terms with the London club. A transfer-focused podcast from the same outlet said all parties were confident the deal would be concluded before deadline day.

Savinho is understood to be keen to join Tottenham, and a bid worth £60m is believed to be sufficient to complete the transfer.

The winger has been on Tottenham’s radar for more than 12 months. Their attempt to sign him last summer was blocked by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who told the Brazilian that he would form part of his plans for the season.

However, Savinho has started only seven Premier League matches since then. His limited involvement has encouraged Tottenham to revive their interest, particularly following De Zerbi’s appointment this summer.

The Italian manager is looking to strengthen his wide attacking options and is said to believe Savinho would be an ideal fit for Tottenham’s forward line.

Savinho joined Manchester City from Troyes in 2024 but has struggled to make a significant impact at the club. He has scored seven goals and provided 13 assists in 84 appearances.

The report also says Savinho has told Manchester City that he wants to leave, with the winger appearing to be on the fringes of Enzo Maresca’s plans.

Despite his talent not having been fully displayed in the Premier League, De Zerbi reportedly sees the Brazilian as a player capable of adding quality and competition to Tottenham’s attack.

Tottenham have already spent heavily this summer, and completing the deal would push their total expenditure close to the £300m mark. The move would therefore represent both a significant investment in Savinho and a new record for the club’s spending in a single summer transfer window.

The clubs are now working towards an agreement, with expectations that the proposed transfer can be finalised before the market shuts.
