Saudi clubs establish clear points lead in AFC Champions League Elite

Roshn Saudi League clubs have built the strongest points record in the history of the AFC Champions League Elite league stage, reaching 150 points after the competition passed the halfway mark of its third season in the new format.

The tournament adopted its current structure in the 2024-25 season, replacing the traditional group stage with a single league phase divided into West and East regions.

According to Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah, clubs from the Roshn Saudi League have collected more points than any other national league since the new format was introduced. Japanese clubs are second on 138 points, 12 behind their Saudi counterparts.

The gap is even greater among the teams in the West region. Clubs from the United Arab Emirates are third in the historical standings with 70 points – fewer than half the total accumulated by the Saudi sides.

Saudi clubs earned their 150 points across three seasons. They recorded 61 points in 2024-25, followed by 54 last season, and have added 35 points in the current campaign after the league phase reached its midpoint.

The Roshn Saudi League is also the only league whose clubs have won the AFC Champions League Elite since the competition moved to its current format. Al Ahli secured the title in each of the past two seasons.
