Hassan bin Marzouk, the sporting director of Saudi Arabian club Al-Akhdoo, has confirmed that Ahmed Mustafa Zizo, the star player of Zamalek, is at the top of their transfer list.
Zizo’s contract with the Egyptian club is set to expire at the end of the current season, allowing him the opportunity to sign with any team as early as January 2025.
Speaking in a televised interview on Al-Mehwar Channel, Marzouk expressed the club’s keen interest in securing Zizo’s services.
“We are very interested in signing Zizo because he is a great player,” he stated. “However, we are aware that he is still under contract with Zamalek, and we will be in Egypt soon to resolve the matter.”
Marzouk emphasized the strong and respectful relationship between Al-Akhdoo and Zamalek, stating that they would approach the negotiations through proper legal channels.
“We value our relationship with Zamalek. We will meet with their officials to discuss the financial terms and make our intentions clear regarding Zizo’s inclusion,” he added.
While Marzouk did not reveal the exact financial details of the proposed deal, he reiterated that discussions with Zamalek would be conducted in due course.
The sporting director expressed hope that Zizo would eventually wear the Al-Akhdoo jersey, citing the mutual respect between the clubs and their shared goal of reaching a fair agreement.
Zizo, who has been an instrumental player for Zamalek, has attracted attention from several top clubs in the region as his contract nears its expiration.
His potential move to Al-Akhdoo could mark the beginning of a new chapter in his career as he contemplates his options for the future.
