Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad have joined the race to sign France international of Guinean descent Paul Pogba.
Pogba, a member of the France squad that won the 2018 World Cup in Russia has been cleared to return to the pitch after completing his doping ban suspension early this year.
The former Manchester United star ban was reduced from four years to just 18-months after appeal.
Having terminated contract with Juventus, the 32-year-old midfielder will have to find himself a new club before the commencement of the upcoming campaign.
Meanwhile, several clubs across the globe have expressed keen interest in the midfielder, viewing him as a perfect player to solidify their team for the new season.
Marseille have been incessantly linked with a move for the former Manchester United and Juventus man, who is available on a free transfer. However, it is instead their Ligue 1 rivals, AS Monaco, who made the first move.
According to reports, Al Ittihad, who have Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté in their ranks have rekindled their interest in the former Manchester United star.
On the contrary, the Middle Eastern side is unable to act decisively due to ongoing internal instability within the club’s management.
At the same time, the midfielder’s transfer to Monaco is being complicated by issues surrounding his contract and transfer of personal rights, though negotiations between the parties are ongoing.
At the moment, the French Ligue 1 club retains the upper hand, but the situation remains fluid.
