Sassuolo renew interest in Napoli forward Walid Cheddira

Walid Cheddira, the Moroccan-Italian forward at Napoli, is being linked with a move to Serie A rivals Sassuolo.

The 28-year-old has yet to make an appearance in Serie A this season and is under contract with Napoli until 30 June 2028. A return to Sassuolo would follow two loan spells away from the Naples club during the 2025-26 campaign.

Cheddira joined Sassuolo on loan in September 2025, before returning to Napoli in January. He then moved to Lecce on loan later that month and completed the season there, returning to Napoli on 30 June.

Napoli signed Cheddira from Bari for €3m in August 2023. He immediately spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Frosinone and has since had further temporary moves to Espanyol, Sassuolo and Lecce.

Cheddira’s most significant team honour came with Napoli, when he was part of their Serie A-winning squad in 2024-25. He also finished as the Italian Cup’s leading scorer in 2022-23 with five goals while at Bari.

The forward’s current market value is listed at €2m, while his latest recorded status has him back at Napoli after his loan spell at Lecce.
