Sarnese bring in Nigeria left-back Sulaiman Oyewale from Monopoli

Nigeria left-back Sulaiman Oyewale has joined Sarnese from Monopoli on a season-long loan. The 25-year-old has moved to the Serie D – Girone G club on 29 August 2026, with his agreement running until 30 June 2027.

Oyewale arrives after spending the 2025-26 season with Monopoli, having joined the Serie C side from Giugliano on a free transfer in August 2025. His move to Sarnese represents a return to a lower division in Italian football, with Monopoli competing in Serie C – Girone C.

The defender has already featured in the 2026-27 Coppa Italia Serie C, making one appearance and starting the match. He played 94% of the available minutes in the competition and recorded no goals or assists.

Born in Kano, Oyewale began his senior career in Italy after progressing through Torino’s youth set-up. He joined Savoia in July 2019 before moving to Picerno the following year. In August 2021, he switched to Giugliano, where he spent four seasons before leaving for Monopoli.

His earlier career also included loan spells involving Torino Under-19 and Chieri, while he started at Castrovillari before joining the Turin club’s youth ranks. Oyewale has predominantly played as a left-back and is left-footed.

Sarnese compete in Serie D – Girone G, while Monopoli remain in Serie C – Girone C. The move gives Oyewale a new club for the 2026-27 campaign while retaining his link with Monopoli beyond the loan period.

Oyewale’s current market value is €150,000, and his return to Monopoli is scheduled for 30 June 2027. The Nigerian defender is now a Sarnese player on loan through the end of the season.
