Santos have announced the signing of former Vasco da Gama midfielder Philippe Coutinho on a free transfer.
The 34-year-old has agreed a contract with Santos until the end of the current year, a three-month deal. The former Brazil international has already joined his new team’s training sessions.
Coutinho terminated his contract with Vasco da Gama in February for psychological reasons. He made seven appearances for the club last season, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
His move to Santos means Coutinho will play alongside his friend Neymar, with the pair now at the same Brazilian club.
Santos marked the reunion by publishing a new photograph of Neymar and Coutinho together. The image updates a famous older picture of the two players.
Santos will be the first Brazilian club apart from Vasco da Gama whose shirt Coutinho has worn. The midfielder had not previously represented another club in Brazil during his career.
