Sannie Daara defends Otto Addo’s capability to lead Black Stars

Daara

Ibrahim Sannie Daara, the former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has voiced strong support for Black Stars coach Otto Addo, despite mounting criticism. Speaking to 3Sports, Sannie Daara emphasized that Addo has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to lead, pointing to his role in securing Ghana’s qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as a testament to his competence.

Otto Addo has proven on multiple occasions that he can do the job.

These are some of the shortcomings he will have to deal with.

There are things he needs to learn about the African terrain.

Sometimes you don’t have to go the hard way,” Sannie Daara explained.

The Ghanaian coach has come under scrutiny following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Critics have questioned his tactical decisions and overall approach to African football, with some calling for his dismissal.

However, Sannie Daara urged stakeholders to look beyond the recent setbacks and reflect on Addo’s achievements, particularly his instrumental role in Ghana’s World Cup qualification.

When we needed him the most in the World Cup qualifiers, he came in for us and took us to the 2022 FIFA World Cup,” he noted.

Despite the pressure, Sannie Daara’s comments highlight the need for patience and a recognition of Addo’s past successes.

His perspective offers a counterpoint to those advocating for a change in leadership, encouraging stakeholders to give the coach time to address his shortcomings and improve.
