Sankhoun Diawara leaves Troyes to sign long-term deal with AC Milan

Sankhoun Diawara has sealed a major move in his young career, leaving boyhood club ESTAC Troyes to join AC Milan on a long-term deal.

The 20-year-old centre-back has signed for five years with an option for a sixth season, in a transfer worth around 2 million euros.

For Milan, Diawara represents a calculated investment in a promising left-footed defender who can help anchor their back line for years to come. For Troyes, newly promoted to Ligue 1, his sale continues a lucrative summer trend and pushes their total transfer income above 30 million euros. This follows high-profile exits such as Mathys Detourbet to Manchester City and Martin Adeline to Hamburg.

Diawara’s rise has been rapid. Promoted to the first team in January 2026 during Coupe de France fixtures, he quickly earned a starting spot in central defense. He then played every minute of Troyes’ last 14 Ligue 2 matches, becoming a key figure in their promotion push and catching the eye of Milan’s recruitment staff.
