Sankhoun Diawara: AC Milan linked with move for Troyes and France-Senegal defender

Sankhoun Diawara, the France-Senegal centre-back currently at Troyes, is being linked with a move to Serie A side AC Milan. The 20-year-old, who is under contract with the French club until 30 June 2027, has emerged as a potential defensive target for the Italian giants as they assess long-term options at the back.

Diawara has been part of the Troyes set-up since his formative years and stepped up to the first team in July 2025 after progressing through the club’s youth ranks and reserve side. He has since accumulated senior experience in Ligue 2, making 14 league appearances and registering one assist, as well as featuring in the Coupe de France, where he scored once in four outings.

Standing at 1.90m and operating primarily as a left-footed centre-back, Diawara offers a profile that differs from many traditional right-sided central defenders. His development at Troyes has included regular competitive football at various levels, from youth and reserve competitions through to the professional game, reflecting a steady integration rather than a sudden breakthrough.

With a current estimated market value of €2m and one year of first-team football behind him, any negotiations would likely hinge on Troyes’ willingness to cash in before the final year of his deal and Milan’s appetite to invest in a defender still early in his senior career. For now, Diawara remains tied to Troyes by a contract running to 2027, leaving the French club in a strong position should interest from Italy harden into a formal bid.
