San Diego FC are looking to Ghanaian forward Emmanuel Boateng to provide a steady hand as the expansion club kicks off its inaugural season in Major League Soccer.

The 30-year-old winger has signed a one-year contract with the club, hoping to make an immediate impact as San Diego begins its journey in American soccer.

San Diego FC Sporting Director Tyler Heaps expressed confidence in Boateng’s addition, saying, “Ema is a seasoned veteran in Major League Soccer who has been a part of very successful teams.

“His history and connection at Right to Dream is a huge benefit to us as we look to build this club from scratch.”

Boateng, a product of Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy, brings a wealth of experience to the San Diego roster.

Over the course of his nine-season MLS career, he has accumulated 219 appearances, including 106 starts, contributing 19 goals and 27 assists.

Boateng’s MLS journey has taken him through stints with the LA Galaxy, D.C. United, Columbus Crew, and New England Revolution. Since joining New England in 2021 as a free agent, he has made 89 appearances (36 starts), scoring eight goals and providing 12 assists.

He played an integral role in the Revolution’s 2021 Supporters’ Shield-winning season, recording two goals and four assists.

With his extensive MLS experience and track record of success, Boateng is poised to play a key role in San Diego FC’s debut season.
