AS Monaco Expresses Interest in Lyon Defender Samuel Umtiti, Negotiations on Hold
AS Monaco has reportedly revived its interest in Samuel Umtiti, the promising 20-year-old central defender for Olympique Lyonnais (OL), according to French sports daily L’Equipe. The French-Cameroonian international, whose contract with Lyon runs until June 2017, has attracted attention from several top clubs.
Discussions between Monaco and Lyon have taken place, with OL president Jean-Michel Aulas reportedly open to negotiations. However, L’Equipe suggests that Monaco has temporarily paused its pursuit of the defender.
In addition to Monaco, Olympique de Marseille is also monitoring Umtiti’s progress closely. The versatile defender is known not only for his central defensive abilities but also for his capacity to operate effectively at left-back.
Umtiti’s future remains a topic of interest as the young defender continues to develop his reputation in Ligue 1.
