Samuel Mbangula determined to relaunch Werder Bremen career
Samuel Mbangula is not ready to give up on his Werder Bremen adventure and plans to make a fresh push for a breakthrough next season.
Despite a difficult debut year on the Weser, the attacking winger is currently not considering a move away, according to DeichStube. The 22-year-old has already told the club’s hierarchy that he wants to stay, reset over the summer and attack again in Bremen after the break.
Signed from Juventus for 10 million euros in the summer of 2025, Mbangula arrived as a major hope for the future. He started brightly, but his influence faded as the season went on, and he slipped down the pecking order under both former coach Horst Steffen and successor Daniel Thioune. Six of his seven goal involvements came in the first half of the campaign, underlining how tough the second half of the season became for him.
Internally, tactical shortcomings and a challenging private situation were mentioned, with Mbangula becoming a father while his family remained in Turin. Even so, a transfer is not on the agenda. He intends to use the summer to come back sharper for pre-season in July and prove himself at Werder. Reports also state he is not planning to switch international allegiance from Belgium to DR Congo.
