Samuel Mbangula agent opens up on Werder Bremen future

Samuel Mbangula is reflecting on a tough first season at Werder Bremen.

After a strong start, the Belgian winger lost his place as the campaign wore on. His agent, Grace Diamouangana, spoke to Bild about his development and future.

“If we evaluate his season, we have to admit it started very well but was ultimately held back by poor management,” the agent said. He blamed the tactical system change, explaining the 22-year-old was often used in positions that did not suit him.

Mbangula joined from Juventus Turin and picked up five goal contributions in his first six matchdays. In total, he made 27 competitive appearances with three goals and four assists, but started only three games in the second half of the season.

His focus remains on Bremen. “The expectations are clear: it should be a better season. Both for Samuel personally and for the club,” Diamouangana said, though he added they would talk if a club made an offer attractive to both Werder and the player.

The missed pre-season due to the Club World Cup also played a role. Mbangula was not at full physical fitness yet still impressed early on. The aim now is to return to the form that marked his strong start.
