Samuel Eto’o joins Cameroon contingent for World Cup qualifiers first time under head coach Marc Brys
President of the Cameroon Football Federation, Samuel Eto’o has joined the Indomitable Lions contingent for the final round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Cameroon will round-up their qualification with a crucial doubleheader against Mauritius and Angola respectively. The Indomitable Lions risk missing out on World Cup qualification, following an inconsistent results throughout the qualifications.
Marc Brys and his charges travels to face Mauritius before hosting Angola in their final game of the qualifiers. However, the Cameroon national team has been boosted by the return of the former Barcelona star for the crucial games.
Eto’o had never traveled with the Cameroonian national team since the arrival of coach Marc Brys. He now returns to the team, traveling with the squad for the game against Mauritius.
While he was suspended by FIFA, the sanction was lifted in March 2025. His absence from Marrakech and Cape Verde in June is explained by this sanction.

Meanwhile, it is unknown whether Eto’o will be allowed into the Cameroon’s locker room due to tension between FECAFOOT leaders
Cameroon are currently second with 15 points, four points behind log leaders, Cape Verde, who are closing in on World Cup qualification.
