Samuel Eto’o’s debut with Chelsea did not leave him with fond memories, as his unexpected start against Everton on the 4th day of the Premier League ended in a 0-1 defeat (Naismith 45′). Despite being chosen over Demba Ba (absent from the squad) and Fernando Torres on the bench, the Cameroonian striker couldn’t prevent the Blues from suffering the loss.
Eto’o, the former Anzhi player, had few moments of threat, making rare attempts to assist his team in securing a victory. In the first half, his header from a Ramires cross sailed over Howard’s goal. The second half saw him making another attempt, but it proved futile.
Despite the outcome, Eto’o played the entire match, experiencing a challenging start to his Chelsea journey.
