Samuel Eto’o Linked with West Ham Move Amid Injury Crisis
West Ham United are reportedly considering a move for Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o as they search for a new forward following Andy Carroll’s injury setback.
The 33-year-old Cameroonian, who scored 12 goals in 30 appearances for Chelsea last season, is currently seeking regular playing time and could remain in the Premier League if a deal materialises. Alongside West Ham, Queens Park Rangers have also expressed interest in the seasoned striker.
Hammers manager Sam Allardyce is believed to be keen on bringing Eto’o to Upton Park, where the club is also tracking Costa Rican winger Joel Campbell. Portuguese striker Hugo Almeida has additionally been linked with a potential move.
However, Eto’o’s reported wage demands of £100,000 a week may complicate negotiations, particularly with QPR, whose financial resources are more limited than West Ham’s.
Should talks with West Ham stall, Eto’o has alternative options available. Italian Serie A clubs AS Roma and Juventus are monitoring the striker, with Juventus reportedly considering him as cover for injured youngster Álvaro Morata. Additionally, the Major League Soccer in the United States remains a possible destination.
As captain of the Cameroon national team, Eto’o continues to be a prominent figure in world football, and his transfer saga is expected to be one of the highlights of the summer window.
