The CAF Disciplinary Board convened to address the case of Mr Samuel Eto’o Fils, president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).
The charges against Mr Eto’o included alleged involvement in match-fixing and breaching ethical principles.
After thorough examination of the evidence, the Disciplinary Board concluded that there was insufficient proof to find Mr Eto’o and Mr Valentin Nkwain guilty of manipulating matches.
However, it was found that Mr Eto’o had indeed violated the principles of ethics, integrity, and sportsmanship outlined in Article 2 paragraph 3 of the CAF Statutes.
This was due to his agreement to become a brand ambassador for 1XBET and receiving payment in return.
As a result of this violation, Mr Eto’o was fined 200,000 USD.
