Anzhi Makhachkala continues its impressive form, leading the Russian Championship after defeating Volga Nyzhnyi 2-1. Strikers Lacina Traoré and Samuel Eto’o were notable in the victory.
Samuel Eto’o, the Anzhi Mackhachkala striker, has announced his return to the national team after a meeting with the Prime Minister of Cameroon. In a press release on his official website, Eto’o explained his decision: “I was received in an audience in recent days by senior state officials to discuss the current situation of Cameroonian football and more particularly that of the national team. At the request of the Highest Authority of the Republic, I have decided to reconsider its position and place myself at the disposal of the Indomitable Lions.”
Eto’o added that his decision is driven by a “single desire, that of serving my country with the same faith, the same ardor, and the same determination as during the last fifteen years.” This comes after Eto’o had initially refused a call-up to the national team on September 8, citing “poor organization and management of the Indomitable Lions.”
