Samuel Bamba: VfL Bochum winger linked with move to Maritimo in Portugal
Germany-DR Congo winger Samuel Bamba of VfL Bochum is being strongly linked with a move to Portuguese side Maritimo, with the likelihood of a deal currently rated at 93%. The 22-year-old right winger, who can operate off either foot, is under contract at Bochum until 30 June 2027 but is attracting significant interest from the Liga Portugal club as they look to add attacking depth.
Bamba joined Bochum on 1 July 2024 and has been part of the squad currently competing in Germany’s 2. Bundesliga. His market value is estimated at around €350,000, a figure that would make him a relatively affordable target for Maritimo as they seek to strengthen in wide areas ahead of the new campaign.
Born in Ahlen on 13 February 2004 and standing at 1.79m, Bamba has represented Bochum primarily on the right flank, offering flexibility across the attack. He enjoyed notable success at youth level with Borussia Dortmund’s Under-19s, winning the German Under-19 Bundesliga title in 2021-22, a campaign that helped raise his profile before his move into senior football.
Bamba’s dual nationality with Germany and DR Congo could add to his longer-term international options, but his immediate future appears to be at club level, with Maritimo pushing to secure his signature. Despite the strong indications that an agreement could be reached, Bochum retain a firm position thanks to the length of his current deal running through to 2027.
