Samuel Eto’o’s Sampdoria Spell in Jeopardy After Training Row
Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o’s time at Sampdoria could be cut short just days after joining the Italian club.
The 33-year-old’s debut was overshadowed by a heavy 5-1 defeat to Torino last weekend, leaving coach Sinisa Mihajlovic furious. In response, Mihajlovic imposed a demanding double training session on the squad on Monday to vent his frustration.
While Eto’o attended the morning session, he abruptly left the training ground before the afternoon session, refusing to participate or explain his actions to the coach.
Mihajlovic remarked, “I don’t know if it will help, but at least I will vent my anger,” highlighting tensions within the squad.
The Cameroonian’s refusal to follow the coach’s orders risks disciplinary action and has sparked speculation about a premature end to his Sampdoria stint. Analysts suggest Eto’o may be struggling to settle into his new Italian adventure after brief spells with several clubs in recent years.
The club and player will now face pressure to resolve the situation ahead of the critical second half of the season.
