Newcastle United’s young striker, Sammy Ameobi, has been loaned to Middlesbrough, a Championship club (English second division), until the end of the season. Middlesbrough manager Tony Malloway expressed his delight with the signing, stating that Ameobi’s versatility as an attacker capable of playing on the wings would provide the team with different options. Sammy Ameobi, who is 20 years old, has made 14 appearances for Newcastle this season. The loan move to Middlesbrough aims to give him more playing time and contribute to Middlesbrough’s push for promotion to the Premier League. Ameobi is under contract with Newcastle until 2015. He is the younger brother of Shola Ameobi, also a player for Newcastle.
