Tunisia’s newly appointed head coach, Sami Trabelsi, has pledged to step down if he fails to secure the team’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking at his first press conference on Friday, the 57-year-old outlined his ambitions after being named head coach by the Tunisian Football Federation.
I will strive with the entire technical team to achieve what we hope for,” Trabelsi said.
The first objective of my contract with the Tunisian Football Federation is to qualify the team for the 2026 World Cup, and if we do not achieve this objective, I will immediately leave my position without hesitation.
Trabelsi previously managed the national team from 2012 to 2013 before moving to Qatar.
Tunisia currently leads its World Cup qualifying group with 10 points, and Trabelsi will aim to build on that momentum to secure a place at the tournament.
