Sami Tlemcani: Morocco-France Goalkeeper Linked with Olympique Akbou Move

Morocco-France goalkeeper Sami Tlemcani, currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Algerian side Olympique Akbou in Ligue 1. The 21-year-old is available as a free agent and is understood to be under consideration as the Algerian club assess options to strengthen their goalkeeping department ahead of the new campaign.

Tlemcani, born in Saint-Maurice on 21 July 2004, has been out of contract since 1 July 2025 and is free to negotiate with interested clubs. Standing at 1.95m and preferring his right foot, he fits the profile of a tall, specialist goalkeeper who can be registered without the need for a transfer fee, an appealing factor for clubs operating within tight budgets.

The dual national has represented both Morocco and France at youth level structures domestically, and his background makes him an intriguing option for a club in North Africa’s top flight. His lack of a current club means he would be able to join Olympique Akbou outside of a traditional transfer negotiation, with discussions expected to focus primarily on personal terms and the length of any proposed contract.

Tlemcani’s immediate priority is to secure regular football after his spell without a team, and interest from a Ligue 1 side in Algeria would offer a route back into a top-division environment. For now, he remains unattached as Olympique Akbou weigh up whether to formalise their interest.
