Sambaly Keita: Mantova sign French-Malian midfielder from FC Villefranche on long-term deal

Mantova have signed central midfielder Sambaly Keita from FC Villefranche, with the 24-year-old moving to the Serie B club on a permanent transfer. The French-born player has agreed a contract with the Italian side until 30 June 2029.

Keita switches to Mantova after a season in Frances third tier with Villefranche, whom he joined in 2025 on a free transfer from Les Herbiers. His move marks the first time he has played club football outside France.

Born in Le Blanc-Mesnil and eligible for both France and Mali, Keita is a right-footed central midfielder standing at 1.87m. He strengthens Mantovas options in the middle of the pitch following a steady rise through the French lower leagues.

Across his senior career in French national competitions, Keita has made more than 100 appearances, scoring in double figures and contributing several assists in league and cup action. He featured regularly in National 1 and Ligue 3, as well as in the Coupe de France.

Keitas career path has taken him from youth and senior football at US Torcy through spells at Sainte-Genevieve, FC Chambly Oise and Les Herbiers before his move to Villefranche. His transfer to Mantova comes after he reached his highest recorded market valuation of 400,000 earlier in 2026.

The midfielders arrival is registered for the 202627 season, with Mantova securing his rights for three years as they prepare for their Serie B campaign.
