After years of leading from the heart of midfield, Sam Morsy is starting a new chapter far from the English game he’s known all his life.
The 33-year-old Egyptian has joined Kuwaiti giants Kuwait SC, bringing an end to a rich four-year spell at Ipswich Town, where he wore the captain’s armband and helped guide the team to Premier League promotion.
Morsy’s move marks his first time playing outside England. He made 165 appearances and scored 11 goals during his time with the Tractor Boys. His departure comes just weeks after Ipswich suffered relegation from the Premier League.
Kuwait SC confirmed the signing in an official statement, announcing a full agreement with Ipswich Town.
Ipswich, in turn, thanked Morsy for his commitment and leadership, calling him a key figure in the club’s recent rise.
Morsy, who first played for Egypt in 2016, has not featured for the national team in the past two years. Now, he begins a fresh challenge in the Gulf, looking to make his mark once again.
