Zamalek’s night unraveled quickly at Cairo Stadium, with Salah Moussadak’s early injury setting the tone for a tough Premier League outing against Pyramids.
The defender, drafted into the starting lineup last-minute to cover for Mohamed Shehata, who pulled a back muscle during the warm-up, was forced off in the first half after sustaining a muscle injury. Medical staff had no choice but to substitute him with Ahmed Fattouh, who was later replaced by Ayman Al-Ramadi, compounding the team’s defensive reshuffle.
It didn’t end there. In another blow, top scorer Nasser Mansi also exited the match injured before halftime, making way for Saif Jaziri.
Zamalek, already battling inconsistency, couldn’t withstand the pressure as Pyramids took advantage of the disrupted squad. The result pushed Pyramids closer to their title ambitions, breaking their two-game losing streak after defeats to Pharco (3-2) and National Bank (4-2).
With the win, Pyramids climb to second place on 47 points. Zamalek, now trailing with 41, remain in third, facing growing pressure to bounce back before the gap widens.
