Salah Eddine Chehab marked his 100th appearance for Maghreb Fes with a victory as the Moroccan champions beat Hassania Agadir 2-1 to move top of the Botola Pro standings.

The MAS Fes captain reached the milestone during Saturday’s second-round meeting at Al-Bashir Stadium in Mohammedia, helping his side secure a second consecutive league victory.

Anas El Mahraoui and Chigovatso Mapasa scored for the defending champions, while Reda Riahi’s second-half penalty reduced the deficit for Hassania.

Chehab reaches century for MAS Fes

The 100th appearance caps a spell with MAS Fes that began on 21 February 2023, when Chehab made his debut for the club against Olympique Safi.

Since then, the goalkeeper has established himself as an important figure for the Fes side and has now reached a century of appearances across all competitions.

His 100 matches are made up of 92 Botola Pro appearances, five in the Throne Cup, two in the CAF Champions League and one in the Excellence Cup.

The milestone came on an important night for the club, with MAS Fes maintaining their perfect start to the domestic campaign.

Champions overcome Hassania challenge

MAS Fes took the lead in the 27th minute when El Mahraoui found the net, continuing his impressive start to the season.

Mapasa then doubled the champions’ advantage 12 minutes later, converting from the penalty spot to give MAS Fes a 2-0 lead before half-time.

Hassania responded after the break and were awarded a penalty in the 56th minute, which Riahi converted to bring the visitors back into the contest.

MAS Fes held firm for the remainder of the match, however, protecting their advantage until the final whistle.

MAS Fes move clear at the top

The result gives MAS Fes six points from their opening two matches and leaves them alone at the top of the early Botola standings.

The defending champions began their title defence with a 2-1 victory over Renaissance Zemamra before producing another 2-1 win against Hassania.

Hassania remain on three points and sit sixth after two matches.
