Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori believes Bukayo Saka’s return from injury can be decisive in their end-of-season push.
The English international of Nigerian descent suffered a hamstring injury during Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace on December 27, 2024.
He underwent surgery and was expected to be sidelined for “many, many weeks,” with manager Mikel Arteta indicating an absence of “more than two months.”
Prior to his injury, Saka had been instrumental for Arsenal, scoring nine goals and providing 13 assists in 24 appearances.
The Gunners are set to face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals. Calafiori expressed optimism about Saka’s comeback, hoping he makes a difference in their games in the run-in.
“Everyone will be very happy when he is back,” said Calafiori.
“He is a top player and he will definitely make a difference. You can see that he makes a difference on the pitch. He is an important player for us.
“He will do everything to get back. But I’m not even thinking about Real Madrid right now.”
In Saka’s absence, Arsenal has faced challenges but managed to secure crucial victories. Recently, they triumphed over Chelsea with a 1-0 win, thanks to Mikel Merino’s goal.
