Wahbi Khazri Suspended for Two Matches Following Incident Against Lille
AS Saint-Étienne’s top scorer, Wahbi Khazri, has been suspended for three matches, with one of those matches suspended, meaning he will miss the club’s next two fixtures. The sanction comes after his conduct during Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash against Lille, where the Tunisian winger reportedly directed harsh words at the refereeing team.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, AS Saint-Étienne coach Jean-Louis Gasset commented on the situation, emphasizing both the fairness of the decision and the need for Khazri to reflect.
“For Wahbi Khazri, his suspension is also normal. He knows it,” Gasset said. “Now, he will penalize the team. In addition, he has a suspended match. I hope he will not receive any more warnings. At 28 years old, he must reflect.”
Khazri’s absence will be a significant blow for Les Verts, who rely heavily on his goal-scoring and creative abilities as they approach these crucial matches.
