Saidy Saibo: Gambian left-back joins Podbrezova from Mikkelin in completed move
Gambian defender Saidy Saibo has joined Slovak side Podbrezova from Finnish club Mikkelin in a completed transfer.
The 20-year-old left-back, who has established himself in senior football over the past year, switches to the Nike Liga after a productive spell in Finland’s Ykkosliiga. He officially signed for Podbrezova on 17 July 2026.
Saibo arrives from Mikkelin, where he impressed in his first season in Finnish football. Operating mainly at left-back, he made 10 league appearances in the Ykkosliiga, contributing four goals, while also featuring in the Suomen Cup and adding two assists in Sweden’s Ettan Norra earlier in his career. His form in Mikkeli came after he had joined the club on a free transfer from Swedish side Vasalunds IF in March 2026.
Before his Scandinavian stint, Saibo played for Bombada FC in his homeland, using that platform to secure his move to Europe. His current market value is listed at €25,000, underlining Podbrezova’s decision to invest in a young defender with senior experience in multiple leagues.
By securing Saibo’s signature, Podbrezova add a versatile left-back with league and cup minutes in Finland and Sweden to their squad for the upcoming Nike Liga campaign. The Gambian defender now begins the next stage of his career in Slovakia following his move from Mikkelin.
