Saha confident Kylian Mbappe will end Champions League wait
Louis Saha is convinced Kylian Mbappe will eventually get his hands on both the Champions League trophy and the Ballon d’Or, despite a run of near misses on the biggest stage.
The Real Madrid star is still chasing his first European crown, even after leaving Paris Saint-Germain for the Spanish giants in 2024.
Saha acknowledged the growing frustration around Mbappe’s lack of major club silverware and suggested fortune has not always been on the France captain’s side. “He seems to be a black cat in a way,” Saha said, highlighting the striker’s misfortune in decisive moments. “Hopefully next year they get there, and he gets at least a Ballon d’Or.”
Even so, Saha believes Mbappe has everything required to dominate the game long term, drawing a parallel with Cristiano Ronaldo’s rise to the top through persistence and mentality.
Mbappe’s numbers at Real Madrid are still elite, with 85 goals in his first 100 games underlining his consistent impact. The big question now is whether he can finally pair those statistics with major titles, starting with another tilt at the Champions League and a leading role for France at the 2026 World Cup.
