Saer Diop: Italy-Senegal defender swaps Union Brescia for Forli in Serie C move

Italy-Senegal centre-back Saer Diop has joined Forli from Union Brescia in a move that sees the 21-year-old switch across Serie C. The defender arrives at the Serie C – B club from the Serie C – A side as Forli continue to reshape their squad for the new campaign.

Diop, whose market value is currently rated at around €100,000, leaves Union Brescia after developing his game in Italy’s third tier. The transfer, completed on 14 July 2026, gives Forli a young central defender with experience of the division and familiarity with Italian football.

Capable of operating at the heart of the back line, Diop will be expected to strengthen Forli’s defensive options as they prepare to face a different slate of opponents in Group B. His age profile and background across Italian and Senegalese footballing cultures bring a different dimension to the club’s backline.

Forli’s recruitment of Diop underlines their intention to build a squad with players already accustomed to the demands of Serie C, rather than looking exclusively to higher divisions or foreign leagues. Having been tested in the same tier with Union Brescia, Diop now has the platform to establish himself in a new environment.

The move means Diop will remain in Italian professional football while taking on a fresh challenge in a different Serie C group, with his transfer from Union Brescia to Forli now fully completed.
