Sadio Mane to be honoured in World Cup qualifier between Senegal and Mauritania
Senegal international Sadio Mane will be honoured in his sides 2026 World Cup qualifying game against Mauritania.
The Taranga Lions will travel to face South Sudan on Friday before playing host to Mauritania at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium on October 14.
Mane, who currently plies his trade for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia will be heavily celebrated during the much-anticipated clash on home turf.
Honoring his humility, determination, and generosity, the ‘12th Gaïndé’ is expected to organize a national ovation for the former Liverpool and Bayern Munich star.
For fans, the celebration will include a minute’s applause starting in the 10th minute to pay tribute to Sadio Mané during the Senegal-Mauritania match.

The 12th Gaïndé, the organizing body, invites all Senegalese and supporters to stand together to celebrate the journey of a native son who has become a legend. “This moment will be an opportunity to demonstrate, in a surge of pride and emotion, how much football can bring together and inspire an entire people,” a press statement from the ‘12th Grande’ reads.
The 33-year-old attacker has scored 45 goals in 111 games for the Senegal national team since making his debut in 2012.
