Bayern Munich Reportedly Eye Southampton’s Sadio Mané as Potential Reinforcement
Bayern Munich have emerged as the latest European giants to show interest in Southampton’s rising star Sadio Mané, as the German champions look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season.
The Senegal international enjoyed a standout campaign with the Saints, drawing the attention of top clubs including Arsenal and Manchester United. Now, according to reports, Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern are monitoring the 23-year-old as a possible addition to their squad.
With injury concerns continuing to affect veteran wingers Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry, Bayern are understood to be in the market for dynamic wide players. While French international Antoine Griezmann and Porto’s Algerian star Yacine Brahimi have been among their top targets, complications around transfer fees and availability have prompted the Bavarians to consider alternatives.
That alternative, it appears, could be Mané—whose pace, directness and eye for goal have impressed both fans and scouts alike during his time in the Premier League.
Signed from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014, Mané made headlines in May when he scored the fastest hat-trick in Premier League history, netting three times in just 2 minutes and 56 seconds against Aston Villa. His form has made him one of the most sought-after talents in Europe.
No formal approach has yet been made by Bayern, but with Pep Guardiola reportedly an admirer of the Senegalese winger, a move could be on the cards if other high-profile deals fall through.
