Senegalese forward Sadio Mané has reiterated Al Nassr’s determination to stay in the Saudi Pro League title race following their narrow 1–0 victory over Al Taawoun in Round 18 of the Roshan League.
Mané played a decisive role in the encounter, delivering the cross that led to the only goal of the match. His effort was inadvertently turned into the net by Al Taawoun defender Mohammed Al Dossari just before halftime, sealing a crucial win for the Riyadh-based side.
Speaking after the match on the Saudi platform “Thamania,” Mané highlighted the importance of the result against a stubborn opponent.
“We achieved an important victory against Al-Taawoun, who defended well, and it was important for us to continue winning in order to move forward towards the top,” the two-time AFCON winner said.
The former Liverpool star acknowledged the challenge posed by league leaders Al Hilal but remained optimistic about Al Nassr’s chances as the season progresses.
“The gap with Al-Hilal is not small, but the league is still long, and our goal is to win all the upcoming matches,” he stated.
Mané also made it clear that the team is fully committed to fighting for the championship until the very end.
“We will do everything to achieve the title, and we will fight with all our might for the fans who constantly support us,” he added.
Reflecting on his recent absence during the Africa Cup of Nations, Mané expressed his joy at reconnecting with the Al Nassr faithful.
“I missed Al-Nasr fans during the African Cup of Nations, and I am very happy to be back. My goal is to make them happy,” he concluded.
The win takes Al Nassr to 40 points, leaving them joint second in the league standings alongside Al Ahli Jeddah.
They now trail leaders Al Hilal by five points, with the title race still very much alive.
