Sadio Mané Attracts Interest, but €20m Price Tag Stalls Transfer
Senegal international Sadio Mané continues to shine at Red Bull Salzburg, but a summer move appears to be on hold due to the Austrian club’s high valuation of the player.
After a standout season in which he helped Salzburg clinch the Austrian Bundesliga title, the 22-year-old forward has caught the attention of several top clubs across Europe. Liverpool, Newcastle, West Ham, as well as Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund, are among the teams to have inquired about his availability.
However, Salzburg are holding firm, placing a €20 million price tag on the young attacker — a figure that has so far discouraged potential suitors.
“If they had paid €20 million for Sadio Mané, we could have discussed it,” said Ralf Rangnick, Salzburg’s sporting director.
While there is no shortage of interest in the player, the Austrian side are unwilling to let Mané go on the cheap. It remains to be seen whether they will soften their stance as the transfer window progresses or risk keeping a player whose ambitions may lie elsewhere.
Mané’s performances have made him one of the most sought-after African prospects in European football, and should Salzburg lower their asking price, a deal could swiftly materialize.
