Former Zambia international attacker Justin Shonga has tragically passed away at the age of 27 after a short illness.
According to Zambia Police Deputy Spokesperson Dan Mwale, Shonga died on Sunday evening at Sikanze Police Hospital.
Shonga had been playing for Saudi Arabia’s second-division team, Najran.
Throughout his career, he played for several clubs, including Nkwazi, Orlando Pirates, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, Cape Town City, Ismaily SC, Sekhukhune United, Gagra, and Najran.
Notably, Shonga had two stints with Nkwazi, first in 2016 and again in 2023, after leaving Sekhukhune United.
He also played for Georgian side Gagra in Eastern Europe.
Shonga’s untimely death has sent shockwaves through the football community, and he will be deeply missed by his fans and fellow players.
His legacy will live on through the memories and achievements he made during his career.
Shonga played 15 times for Zambia’s Chipolopolo and scored 7 goals since making his debut in June 2017.
