'SACKED' Yannick Ferreira drags Zamalek to FIFA over unpaid $440,000 wages

Former Zamalek coach Yannick Ferreira has reportedly lodged a complaint with FIFA over unpaid wages.

The Belgian manager, who was dismissed in November after a brief four-month stint following a series of disappointing results in the Egyptian Premier League, is now among several former Zamalek staffers seeking overdue payments from the club.

According to reports, Ferreira is claiming $440,000, representing the remainder of his eight-month contract.

He had previously given the club a 10-day window to settle the debt, but meetings were repeatedly delayed, prompting him to authorize his agent to escalate the matter to football’s governing body.

Zamalek is already serving a transfer ban for the next three windows due to unpaid dues to three former players.

At the time of Ferreira’s departure, the team sat fourth in the league, just four points behind leaders Ceramica Cleopatra, although they have since fallen seven points adrift.

Ahmed Abdelraouf has been appointed caretaker coach in the interim. Meanwhile, Zamalek is in South Africa preparing for Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup clash against Kaizer Chiefs at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, with kickoff scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
