Sacha Boey stays at Bayern Munich until winter
Sacha Boey will remain at Bayern Munich until at least the winter transfer window, with Vincent Kompany now outlining the defender’s situation.
After sporting director Max Eberl confirmed that the right-back would stay, the coach made clear that Boey remains part of his plans.
“He will stay here now. That is how it is, and then we will see what happens in winter,” Eberl said after Bayern’s Champions League match against Bodø/Glimt. Kompany added: “I am the coach of this team and Sacha belongs to this team.”
The Bayern manager wants to support Boey’s development, although regular playing time will be difficult to secure. Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanišić provide strong competition on the right side of defence. “It is a tough battle for places,” Kompany admitted.
For Boey, patience and hard work will be essential. Kompany praised his recent attitude, saying the 25-year-old understands the situation, trains well and is treated with respect by the club.
A larger role is not guaranteed in the immediate future, but the coach has not closed the door. “In football, anything can happen if you have the right attitude,” Kompany said. Boey’s prospects will likely be reassessed when the winter window arrives.
