Ryan Mmaee: Morocco forward joins Atlas from Omonia Nicosia in 3m deal
Morocco international Ryan Mmaee has joined Mexican side Atlas from Cypriot champions Omonia Nicosia in a 3m permanent transfer.
The 28-year-old centre-forward, who was born in Belgium and represents Morocco, moves to Liga MX after a prolific spell in Cyprus, where he finished as top scorer in the 2025-26 Cyprus League with 25 goals and was named Footballer of the Year. Mmaee arrives at Atlas with a market valuation of 2.2m.
Mmaee only joined Omonia last season on a free transfer from Stoke City but quickly became a key figure in their title-winning campaign. Across his time in Cyprus he hit 38 league goals and provided 19 assists in 71 appearances, underlining his impact as a consistent finisher and creator.
Before his move to Nicosia, Mmaee spent two years with Ferencvaros in Hungary, winning back-to-back league titles and a Hungarian Cup, scoring 25 league goals across those championship seasons. His earlier career also included spells in Belgium with Standard Liege and in Denmark with Aarhus GF, while he has gained experience in European competitions including the Europa League and Champions League qualifying rounds.
Standing at 1.85m and predominantly right-footed, Mmaee has built a reputation as a central striker with a strong record in domestic leagues and cup competitions, including hatfuls of goals in the Cypriot Cup and Hungarian Cup.
Mmaees transfer was completed on 9 July 2026, and he will wear the number 8 shirt for Atlas following his switch from Omonia Nicosia.
