Rwanda international goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari has successfully underwent shoulder surgery, ruling him out of action until at least March 2026.

Ntwari’s season appears to be over, as he is set to spend lengthy time on the sidelines due to the latest setback. The Rwandan first choice stopper has fallen down the pecking order at Kaizer to Chief Brandon Peterson and Bruce Bvuma in the current campaign.

This season, the 26-year-old goalkeeper has yet to make a single appearance in the South African Premier League for the Soweto giants.

“Yeah, he has undergone surgery and it was successful. The operation was done on Monday, and he could be out until March,” said the source according to Soccerladuma.

The former TS Galaxy goal-minder has been playing while carrying the injury. Following a successful surgery, the shot stopper is set to spend time on the sidelines.

“He got the injury a while ago and has been playing with it. It became necessary to sort it out properly, so he’s now focusing on recovery,” the source said.

A well-known penalty stopper when on song, Ntwari could only save one spot-kick when Kaizer Chiefs lost 5-4 to Stellenbosch FC on penalties last month in the Carling Knockout Cup.

This game saw him refuse to be subbed as Chiefs ended up losing. Whether his coaches knew of his injury hence the substitution, it’s another story, but if the reports are true, this could be the reason behind his rebel against his coaches on the day at Cape Town Stadium.
