Leicester City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has expressed optimism that Wilfred Ndidi’s injury is not severe after the midfielder was forced off during the Foxes’ 2-2 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
The Nigerian international was substituted in the 52nd minute at the King Power Stadium, with Oliver Skipp coming on to replace him.
Ndidi appeared to suffer a hamstring strain, raising concerns over his availability for Leicester’s upcoming fixtures.
Speaking after the match, Van Nistelrooy said, “Wilf, when he goes off, it’s because there’s a problem. I hope it’s minor.
He felt a slight strain in his hamstring. Hopefully, it’s nothing serious. We’ll see how long it takes to recover.”
The 27-year-old midfielder has been a key player for Leicester this season, featuring in 15 Premier League games so far.
His presence in the midfield has been pivotal to the team’s performances, and his potential absence adds to Leicester’s growing list of concerns ahead of their next match.
The Foxes are set to face Newcastle United on Sunday, but Van Nistelrooy will already be without Senegalese midfielder Boubacar Soumaré, who is suspended, and Harry Winks, who continues his recovery from a groin injury. Ndidi’s availability will be closely monitored as the club assesses the extent of his injury in the coming days.
Leicester currently finds itself in a crucial phase of the season, and Ndidi’s fitness will be integral to their hopes of maintaining momentum.
Fans and teammates alike will be hoping for a swift recovery for the Nigerian star.
