Ruud Krol Returns to Coaching with Raja Casablanca Appointment
Dutch football veteran Ruud Krol has been appointed as the new head coach of Moroccan club Raja Casablanca, the Botola Pro side confirmed on Friday. Krol, who had been linked with a move to South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs, opted instead to take the reins at one of North Africa’s most prestigious clubs.
Krol brings extensive experience across the African continent, having previously managed prominent teams such as CS Sfaxien and Espérance Tunis in Tunisia, as well as Egyptian giants Zamalek. He also spent time coaching the Tunisian national team and held a stint with Orlando Pirates in South Africa. Prior to joining Raja Casablanca, Krol was out of contract following his departure from Al Ahli in Libya.
He succeeds Fathi Jamal, who served as interim manager after José Romao’s dismissal, and will be tasked with steering Raja Casablanca back to success in domestic and continental competitions.
